Calm Chaos

When things start to feel chaotic, do you speed up to match it or can you slow down to find your clarity? Find yourself in the stillness through the chaos. Know that you can feel it, handle it, and integrate it into your being.

Repeated hand gesture at the end is Hasta Mudra 3. We can use this mudra to help deal with issues such as identity and self esteem.

Wintering

This piece is an improv dance based on Katherine May's book entitled Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times. May describes the various aspects of the slowing down process of winter and relates it to going though difficult times in our lives. Basically to grow through what we go through instead of going outside in shorts and pretend winter isn't happening.

As humans we go through our own personal winters where we feel like we have lost all the light inside of us. The good news is that we can rise again some spring time restored and ready to start again if we allow ourselves the permission to slow down and work our way through the hard parts.

It was incredibly freeing to not have a piece to be danced, but a piece to be explored through improvisation. To be in snow and truly be in my wintering process. It was a process of shifting energy, intention and acceptance. I hope that if I can find this for myself, I will be able to help guide others to do the same.
